In July 2026, we’re continuing to support environmental projects around the world through our eco-project partner Ecologi. This month we’re highlighting two initiatives in Brazil: project 1, focused on conserving the Amazon, and project 2, focused on restoring degraded land in the Atlantic Forest region.
Project 1: conserving the Amazon in Brazil
The Amazon rainforest is one of the most important ecosystems on the planet, storing vast amounts of carbon, influencing rainfall patterns, and supporting extraordinary biodiversity. Although Brazil’s deforestation rate fell between 2004 and 2012, recent years have seen a worrying rise again, increasing pressure on habitats, indigenous communities, and the wider climate.
Conservation work in the Amazon typically centres on protecting high-risk areas, strengthening local monitoring, and supporting sustainable livelihoods that reduce the economic drivers of forest loss. By helping fund verified initiatives through Ecologi, we’re contributing to practical, on-the-ground action designed to keep existing forests standing, because preventing deforestation is one of the most effective ways to avoid emissions before they occur.
Project 2: restoring degraded land in Brazil
Brazil’s Atlantic Forest is a global biodiversity hotspot, home to more than 23,000 plant species, around 40% of which are endemic to the region. A third of those species cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Despite its ecological importance, large areas have been degraded over time through land conversion and fragmentation, breaking wildlife corridors and reducing soil resilience.
Restoration projects help reverse this damage by re-establishing native vegetation, improving soil health, and reconnecting habitats so species can thrive. Beyond biodiversity, restoring degraded land can support local communities through more stable ecosystems, improved water regulation, and landscapes that are better able to cope with extreme weather.
We’re proud to have funded the planting of 4787 trees since the start of our partnership with Ecologi over 5 years.
